We are proud to present our Briefing Book for Future Generations — a key resource designed to support the work of Commissioner Mr. Micallef and his Cabinet as they develop the upcoming Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness.
The Briefing Book brings together essential insights on:
- European Union law: Legal foundations to protect Future Generations.
- International momentum: The UN Summit of the Future and the EU’s leadership opportunity.
- Guardians of Future Generations: Existing institutions and models across Europe.
- Children, Youth, and Future Generations: Understanding overlaps, differences, and the need for distinct representation.
- Workplan for Future Generations: Concrete proposals for action in the next political cycle.
On January 16, 2025, representatives from the Future Generations Initiative — including JESC, The Good Lobby, CRIN, GCE, and YouthProAktiv — had the opportunity to present the Briefing Book during a productive meeting with the Cabinet of Commissioner Mr. Micallef.
The Cabinet welcomed the Briefing Book and reaffirmed their commitment to making Intergenerational Fairness a flagship issue. They signaled a strong willingness to work with citizens and civil society to ensure a horizontal, cross-sectoral approach.
