The Future Generations Initiative is a coalition of civil society organizations that campaign for the rights of Future Generations in the European Union. Our coalition represents a wide range of NGOs who all believe in a sustainable, democratic and peaceful future.

After our successful campaign, the first commissioner responsible for representing Future Generations was established in 2024. Currently, the development of a Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness lays the foundation for the future architecture of all the processes and legislation that will ensure a long-term perspective in the EU’s legislative work.

We continue working for Future Generations. Our Manifesto stresses that the EU’s Intergenerational Fairness Agenda must be built on international law and the constitutional traditions of many member states that enshrined the rights of Future Generations in their constitutions. We demand Commissioner Micallef to establish an impact assessment specifically designed to assess fair burden sharing and evidence-based long-term planning in all EU legislation.
