On November 27, political groups reached an agreement to approve the 26 commissioner-candidates after a series of contentious hearings. With this step complete, the Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture, and Sport is set to officially begin his mandate on December 1.

UN appoints a Special Envoy for Future Generations
At the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, UN Under-Secretary-General Guy Ryder announced that the Secretary-General would establish a UN Special Envoy for Future Generations, advancing global efforts to incorporate long-term thinking into policymaking.
The Envoy will serve as a steward for intergenerational equity, promoting sustainable governance and addressing demands from civil society, governments, and foresight practitioners.
